If you really want to compete with Corel Painter,
then you absolutely have to offer more than he
does at his last version, people will stick with
Painter otherwise. And although I would LOVE
Photoshop to be as good as Painter is at what he
does, I don't see it coming in CS 5. It took
11 versions for Painter to be as good as it is, I
guess it will take some time for Photoshop to
catch up with it...

maybe the painterly aspects of Photoshop should be

It's nice to see how Adobe implemented the

these tools for illustrators. For the last couple

This would be extra cool if you were able to
create a paint texture layer underneath the image
so that it doesnt mess with the lighting aspect or
shadows of the image. Let me say it this way. Be
able to drag the brush without moving the colors.
The brush just creates a texture of paint. A way
to just make the strokes without moving the
colors. I ... still like that way,
but you should add what I'm saying. It may
require that you create a transparent layer, paint
the strokes/texture onto the new layer and then
adjust how strong the stroke is or deep/ how it
effects the image. I hope you understand where
I'm going.

@Sandra Johnson, it's certainly not blurring
the image, it's laying down and blending
pixels like paint. Besides, the blurring your are
talking about would really be smudge tool, but
that's not what's going on here. I
suspect you'll just have to try it out and
see the difference.
